The Volta Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women's Wing has presented assorted items to the Remar Ghana Children’s Home in Ho in commemoration of this year’s Mother’s Day.
The presentation was to support the orphanage in this trying times, as the emergence of the coronavirus has heightened hardship for the less privileged.
The items included 25 5kg bags of rice, a carton of Milo, 2 cartons of Kalyppo, a 50kg bag of sugar, a pack of toilet roll, a carton each of vegetable cooking oil, evaporated milk, processed tomatoes, detergent and tinned fish and 10 bags of sachet water.
The rest are 50 locally produced face masks, 50 hand sanitizers, 10 bottles of liquid soap, two maxi rolls of tissue and a set of hand washing materials to enable inmates observe the safety protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The NPP Volta Regional Women’s Organiser, Afi Adzagbo, said the donation was to show appreciation to the inmates whose prayers saw her elected to her current position.
“Today being Mother’s Day, I decided to come and celebrate it with my children here. Children are blessing and our happiness, so I am here today to donate something small and listen to your problems, and see how best the party can help solve them”, she said.
The NPP Volta Regional Organiser, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, implored the inmates to be obedient and remain committed to their education to ensure they grow to become people of substance in the future.
He also urged management of the orphanage to use the items judiciously and not hesitate in reaching to his outfit for any form of assistant.
The Caretaker of Remar Ghana Children’s Home, William Lartey Edwards appreciated the donation but appealed for financial and logistic supports.
He stated that “we need money to manage the orphanage, our chairs are broken, we need about 5 ceilings fans in the dorms and mattresses for the children to lay on.”
“We would be grateful if we can get at least GhC100.00 monthly to purchase ECG credit”, he added.
Madam Afi Adzagbo was accompanied by the 18 NPP Constituency Women’s Organisers in the region who formed the Volta Regional NPP Women’s Wing.
