A music producer and entertainment pundit has said that industry persons have very little appreciation for gospel acts.
Kwesi Ernest said event organisers pay gospel artistes less when booking them for a show as compared to their colleagues in other genres.
Kwesi Ernest told George Quaye on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM that many of these payments are usually not based on the performance the acts bring on board a show.
“Nacee goes on stage with almost about a 14 piece band, who stand there and perform but by virtue of somebody’s calculation, on where an act's brand has gotten to, decides he (Nacee) deserves ¢5000 at an event where Sarkodie is taking ¢100,000.”
He said some of these situations cause conflicts among the fraternity.
Kwesi Ernest said that the artistes flare up after “enduring so much pain”.
“When you are talking about a particular genre, or a group of individuals, practitioners, creators who have been abused heavily in this country, it is the gospel artistes,” he said.
The music producer said he disagrees with the statement that gospel musicians are the most pampered adding, people do not know about their struggles.
He called on all industry persons and event organizers to fix these pay gaps and other challenges facing the artistes.
