The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has welcomed government's tuition-free tertiary education policy for Senior High School graduates.
NUGS in a statement commended the NPP-led government for its commitment to provide free and accessible education for students in the country.
"NUGS is satisfied, confident and recognise that in terms of Education, the NPP government has consistently rolled out policies which are well informed and well-implemented.
"Therefore, we say big thank you to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Education Minister and all in charge for moving our nations' education into the 21st century by removing artificial hurdles," the statement further said.
This comes after the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat announced free tertiary scholarships for current Free Senior High School WASSCE graduates starting January 2021.
According to the Scholarship Secretariat, the scholarship covers academic facility user fees or tuition fees for all accredited local tertiary institutions, (both private and public).
Registrar, Kingsley Agyemang said all eligible candidates i.e. WASSCE graduates who have gained admission or have applied for admission into an accredited local tertiary institution can apply for the scholarship online from December 1 and December 15.
