Founder and Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has taken a swipe at the opposition NDC for claiming to have won majority parliamentary seats in the ongoing elections.
The private legal practitioner who is also a cousin to President Akufo-Addo in a series of tweets said the NDC is making assertions they cannot justify.
According to him, although the governing NPP has lost a number of seats to its opponent, the NDC will still not be the majority in parliament.
NDC has not won 140 seats and will not secure 140 seats even if all the disputed seats are given to them.

He insists that just as the NDC has ‘flipped’ some seats, so has the NPP ‘flopped’ seats that previously belonged to the NDC.
“It is a flip flop! My projection: NPP will decide on the next Speaker of Parliament and First Deputy Speaker. An NPP President will form the next government and there shall be no run-off. So says the certified data from the polling stations.

The NDC at a press briefing on Tuesday claimed they have won 141 parliamentary seats out of the total 275 constituency seats in parliament.
The General Secretary of the party, Asiedu Nketia who addressed the media stressed that it is a big win for the party adding that the NDC will have absolute control of the House in the eighth term of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Loads of flips & flops on both sides. Both NPP & NDC have a lot to get in a flap over. NPP’s parliamentary performance was very disappointing. A very, very narrow escape there. But, Mahama even more disappointed.

However, Mr Gabby Otchere-Darko reminded the NDC of the parliamentary seats it has lost.
He also acknowledged the loss of NPP, describing the parliamentary casualties as ‘disappointing’.
When all is said and done, NDC has every reason to be proud of what they have achieved in these elections. You may not have flipped parliament and won the presidency but you’ve done very well. After all, it is a ruling party going for its second term.
