A member of the NDC legal team says he disagrees with the Supreme Court’s judgment that the petitioner's star witness won the case for the first and second respondents in the just-ended election petition.
Abraham Amaliba's comment comes after the apex court in its ruling on Thursday said the computation of John Mahama's first witness (PW1), Johnson Asiedu Nketia did when being cross-examined affirmed that indeed the 2nd Respondent in the petition had 50% +1 in the 2020 election.
Based on this and other reasons, the Court dismissed the case of the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) 2020 Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama on the basis that it lacked merit.
But speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Friday, Mr Amaliba said the NDC General Secretary by calculating the figures of the EC did not confirm the final results for them.
He contended that the figures that were entered to reach the final result are what is being contested by former President Mahama.
“Those computations were figures that were coming from the EC that we alternatively in the petitioner’s petition were contesting. When you listen to the delivery of the ruling, the 1st respondent actually admitted the figure that was found in the petition the petitioner.
“So those computations were not accurate figures. They just took him through some figures, and you remember that Asiedu Nketia said ‘the total may be correct but the figures leading us to the total is wrong,’” he told Joy FM’s Animwaa Anim-Addo.
Already, former President Mahama has announced that he disagrees with the Supreme Court's judgment on the case.
He also noted that the court took out of context the testimony of Mr Nketia.
