Andrew Vortia, legal counsel for actress Akuapem Poloo born Rosemond Brown has filed a motion to appeal the 90-day jail sentence handed his client by an Accra High Court on Friday.

The actress was convicted on Friday over naked pictures with her seven-year-old son.

This was after she pleaded guilty for sharing a nude photo on Instagram while celebrating his birthday in June last year.

Handing her judgement, Christina Cann expressed discontentment with the alarming rate with which nudity has become a thing in the country’s social media space as such, the actress is being punished to serve as a disincentive to others.

But in the motion of appeal filed on Monday, the legal practitioner described the sentence as harsh.

He is, therefore, praying the court for a lesser sentence in the form of a fine.

He also asked for Akuapem Poloo to be on bail whilst the appeal is being heard judiciary.

The judge, Christiana Cann while pronouncing the judgment stated that it was necessary to impose a custodial sentence on Akuapem Poloo to serve as a deterrent to people who post obscene images.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General, Godfred Dame has expressed his support to the defendant’s intention to appeal the court on its judgement.
