Ghanaian actress and socialite Rosemond Brown, widely known as Akuapem Poloo, has disclosed that musician Fameye once paid her GH¢5,000 to twerk in videos promoting his song.
Speaking on Joy Prime's Changes on 23rd July 2025, Poloo said she began earning money from musicians after creating buzz around herself on social media.
“Stars would call me to dance or twerk on their songs and they would pay me. Even Fameye was giving me GH¢5,000 to twerk on his song,” she said.
Poloo revealed that her journey to fame was not easy. She admitted paying people to insult her on social media during the early days of her career to draw attention to herself.
“At first when I started, I was paying for people to insult me for about a year. I’ve been in the game and no one calls me and I was not getting anything but after that people were calling me for interviews, skin care deals,” she said.
According to her, the strategy helped her secure brand deals, media interviews and more opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Recalling her early acting days, she said she earned as little as GH¢20 for some roles, except for her work with GBC’s Obra series where she was treated better, thanks to veteran actress Maame Dokono.
“As for the acting, GH¢20, with GBC they were giving me something better because of legendary Maame Dokono, so she was taking good care of us but with the others it was GH¢20,” she added.
