Sword has been cut for the construction of the Janga Senior High Technical school in the West Mamprusi Municipality nearly three years of a standoff between the paramount chief Tamale of the area and authorities at the municipal assembly.
The 12-unit classroom block for the newly established secondary school sponsored by Ghana Gas was awarded in 2018 but delayed due to a dispute over the siting of the project.
The chief had insisted the school building must be located at a site he prefers, which is close to the palace else no contractor will be allowed in the community, but the authorities disagreed.
The situation is said to have affected teaching and learning in the school as students are forced to study in uncompleted structures while teachers have no place to stay to teach.
In what one could term as a dream come through, the students over the weekend heaved a sigh of relief after a sod was finally cut for the project to begin following a resolution of the dispute by the Mamprugu overlord and the vice president.
Although the paramount chief has reconsidered his decision, he boycotted the ceremony held in that regard on Saturday.

Expressing appreciation, the headmaster of the school assured a continuous determination to place the school at a peak.
“We are so happy that eventually, we are going to have a 12-unit classroom that will help the students sit comfortably and learn effectively.”
The chief of Nama, Johnson Tahiru expressing gratitude said president Akufo-Addo can only be described as a visionary leader.
He said it is vital to note that education is the single most important catalyst for the eradication of “poverty, ignorance and under-development” and therefore Akufo-Addo’s efforts to make education accessible indicates that he “thinks beyond tomorrow.”
He seized the opportunity to invite the community members to rally behind the development “because if it fails, it means we have completely failed ourselves and the generation unborn will never be happy with us.”

The Municipal Education Directorate on his part advised against encroaching on the school premises and encouraged both teachers and students to remain disciplined.
“School succeeds academically when there is discipline, this is a new school, the teachers, and students should begin by living an exemplary life.”
The Municipal Chief Executive, Arimeyaw Somo Lucky who has been at a forefront of negotiation expressing satisfaction assured the school of more projects going forward.
“More projects are coming. We are planning to get more infrastructure facility for the people. An assembly hall, the dining hall will soon follow then we will also tackle teachers accommodation and others.”
