Government has laid an agreement in Parliament requesting the House’s approval to waive taxes of $527,685 on materials and vehicles to be procured as part of the redevelopment of the Accra Racecourse include a five-star hotel, shopping mall, office, and residential buildings.
The government wants “waiver of Import Duty, Import GETFund Levy, Import NHIL, Import VAT, EXIM Levy, and Special Import Levy amounting to $527,685.79 on materials and vehicles to be procured under the Support Agreement between government, Cascade Development Company Limited and the Gold Coast Resorts International Limited to redevelop the Accra Racecourse include a five-star hotel, shopping mall, office, and residential buildings”.
The motion was laid by Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on behalf of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah referred the agreement to the Finance Committee for consideration and report.
The speaker also referred the Annual Report of the Ministry of National Security for the Year Ended 31st December 2019 which was laid this morning to the Defence and Interior Committee for consideration and report.
