The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to expanding employment opportunities for young people across Ghana, with particular attention to the Western North Region.

Mr Basintale gave the assurance on Wednesday, August 6, during a courtesy call on the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, at the Regional Coordinating Council ahead of a staff durbar in the region.

Welcoming the YEA delegation, Mr Brentum described Western North as one of Ghana's most peaceful and hospitable regions.

He noted that the youth remain central to President John Dramani Mahama's Reset Agenda and stressed that the region's development depends on sustained investment in the skills, innovation and potential of its young people.

The Regional Minister appealed to the YEA to prioritise Western North in the implementation of its employment and empowerment programmes.

He also called on Mr Basintale and his team to support the region's representative in the 2026 Ghana's Most Beautiful competition.

Responding, Mr Basintale thanked the Regional Minister and the people of Western North for the warm reception, reaffirming the Agency's resolve to ensure that employment opportunities are available to young people across the country, regardless of their location.

He disclosed that the YEA has so far deployed more than 9,000 young people under its nationwide sanitation module, trained 30,000 beneficiaries through various skills development programmes, including about 800 from the Western North Region, and facilitated more than 1,800 youth employment opportunities in the region.

Mr Basintale also revealed that over 600 Ghanaian youth have benefited from international exchange programmes, with more opportunities expected to be introduced in the coming months.

He said the visit was aimed not only at paying a courtesy call on the Regional Minister but also at strengthening collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council to create sustainable jobs and expand opportunities for the youth in the Western North Region.
