Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has charged the newly sworn-in board members of the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF) to work towards the realization of the sixteen model secondary schools the administration has promised to construct across the regions.
The era of exclusion of the Zongos in the overall development of the country, according to the Vice President, has practically come to an end as the Fund continues to facilitate hundreds of projects in the country’s inner cities and vulnerable communities.
He made this pronouncement at the swearing-in ceremony of the Zongo Development Fund’s board at the Jubilee House on Monday.
Though the ZDF has delivered about 300 projects across the 16 regions of the country, the Vice president urged the newly inaugurated board to work towards the realization of one of the promises made by the administration in the run up to the 2020 elections.
"We are committed to delivering more for zongo communities in our quest to ensure inclusive development. Surely our method of development is not the politics of rice and sugar. We promised the people of zongo and we are delivering through sustainable policy with education as the catalyst," he said.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia went on to challenge the board to spread its interventions to communities that have not yet benefitted from the many projects that have been undertaken across the country including the construction of the model senior high school.
“Work assiduously with all stakeholders to ensure that the policy of the model senior high school in each of the sixteen regions is implemented,” Dr. Bawumia said as he congratulated the board chaired by Seidu H. Nasigri.
Other members of the board include Hajia Barikisu Seidu Bawie, Alhaji Arafat Sulemana Abdulai, Ahmed Saeed, Chief Dalhu S. Abdul-Mumin, Sagnari Naa Amb. Yakubu Abdulai, Chief Mahmoud Dandey, Reve. Dr. Cyril Gershon KwaoFAYOSE, Chief Alhaji Chackson Osuman Issahaku, and Ahmed Abdulai Abu.
One more member is expected on the board to make up the 11-member body.
