Afrobeat artiste Kelvyn Boy, has said that he was not saddened by the fact that the remix of his global hit ‘Downflat’ did not make a huge impact like the original.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he said that he is thankful to have connected with two revered artistes - Nigeria’s Techno and UK’s Stefflon Don - who were happy to work with him.
“I feel like the affiliation and link up itself is going to do a lot for the song and to my career than just the hits. The main song is already a hit and I wanted to link up with other artistes so it's all good,” Kelvyn Boy told Andy Dosty on Thursday.
He added that the two international artiste were pleased to work with him.
Kelvyn Boy revealed that through the collaboration he secured the opportunity to work with both Techno and Stefflon Don on other songs.
“It was the ‘Downflat’ remix that brought that link up and these other songs and they all loved it and wanted to do it, it was not like I moved to them,” he added.
Kelvyn Boy released ‘Downflat’ in early 2022 and by April it was already a global phenomenon with a dance challenge on TikTok.
Months later, he released a remix featuring Techno and Stefflon Don which unfortunately did not make as much impact.
But, Kelvyn Boy believes the song ‘Downfalt changed his life.
In a September 2022 interview, on Hitz FM, Kelvyn Boy said that the song’s popularity had greatly impacted his finances, career and opened doors for him internationally.
