A Ghanaian man residing in the United States, Kwabena Michael Amoako, attempted to take the life of his wife before ending his own in a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred after allegations surfaced that his wife intended to leave him for her ex-partner.
The couple, who resided in Columbus, Ohio, had four children together. According to a US-based news outlet MyFox28 Columbus, law enforcement officers responded to a domestic violence report at approximately 10:36 p.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of 49-year-old Kwabena Michael Amoako and his critically injured wife, aged 50.
The injured woman was rushed to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Michael Montgomery, a neighbor who witnessed the aftermath, revealed that the couple's children sought help from him after hearing gunshots and being locked out of their home by their father.
Montgomery shared, "The 16-year-old said they were arguing, they heard two bangs, ran out the door, and came over here. They heard the shooting and dad wouldn't let them back in the house, so they came knocking on the door."
Reports from Ghana suggest that the tragic incident occurred following an alleged revelation by the wife that she planned to relocate to Ghana and remarry her former partner.
The situation escalated, resulting in the devastating loss of lives.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to gather more details and determine the events leading up to the tragic outcome.
