Mr Cudjoe Fianoo, Chief Executive Officer of AshGold FC has appealed to the supporters of the Club to exercise restraint as the management works hard to survive relegation in the on-going Glo Premier League.
He said it was not normal for supporters to vent their spleen on the playing body or technical team when the going gets tough since that could dampen the team’s spirit.
Mr Fianoo was speaking to newsmen at Obuasi following AshGold’s 1-1 drawn game with Sekondi Eleven Wise in their 27th Week Premier League encounter played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Soon after the match some supporters of the Club threatened to assault the technical team for non-performance which they said accounted for the club’s drawn game.
The situation compelled Coach David Duncan who threatened to resign, but for the intervention of the management of the club.
Mr Fianoo said he was optimistic that the Club was capable of surviving this year’s League, noting that stakeholders should therefore be supportive in material, physical and spiritual terms to benefit the club and save it from relegation.
He said in football anything can happen and it was against this backdrop that management was doing all it could to motivate the players and the technical team to give off their best in their three remaining crucial matches.
