Amdiya Abdul Latiff, the Founder and CEO of Eco-Me Africa, has been selected as one of the 32 Ghanaians for the prestigious 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship in the United States.
She has been placed in the Business and Entrepreneurship track and will have her leadership training at the University of Nevada, Reno, in Nevada, with plans to travel to Washington DC for the Mandela Washington summit in late July, 2023.
Amdiya is a social entrepreneur with more than seven (7) years of experience in menstrual, gender, and community development.

She is the founder and CEO of Eco-Me Africa, an eco-inclusive social enterprise, working with women throughout the value chain to locally produce innovative menstrual products and a wide range of sustainable living solutions that are promoting health and dignity while addressing the urgent need to protect the environment from plastics.
Together with partners, Amdiya has successfully developed EcoPeriod reusable sanitary pad, a groundbreaking achievement, helping to fix the menstrual health and waste challenges in Ghana.
Amdiya's outstanding work has garnered recognition, including the Female-Led Green Business '22 award, AfriPlastics semi-finalist, the Yali Sustainability Excellence award and Community Engagement Award amongst others.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship initiative of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), offers leadership development and training opportunities in the United States to around 700 young African leaders annually.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Fellowship has welcomed over 5,000 young leaders from all Sub-Saharan African countries.
