The Ghana Police Service says it has restored calm at Gordenu near Hohoe in the Volta Region following a violent disturbance in which a Police patrol vehicle which was involved in an accident with a motorbike rider was set on fire by some community members.
Two people lost their lives in the violence and the motor rider who sustained injury during the accident is currently receiving medical attention.

Twelve people have so far been arrested and one Bruni pistol retrieved.

The police in a statement issued on Wednesday said, "Police continue investigation into the incident including the circumstances under which the two people lost their lives."
Security has since been beefed up in Hohoe township and its surrounding communities to ensure law and order.
Eyewitnesses say the police vehicle with registration number GP 590 knocked a motor rider suspected to be carrying weed and fell into a gutter.
The police later sent the suspect to the hospital and abandoned the vehicle only to return to meet it on fire.
According to the eyewitnesses, no substance was found on the suspect.
