The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stated that the demonstrations held by the youth last week do not have any reasonable basis.
According to Salam Mustapha, the party is struggling to identify any foundation that warranted the protest, describing the concerns as politically motivated.
“I tried so hard in the 3 days of the protest to take home the most salient reason and demand for the protest, but nothing concrete.”
He made this known in a statement released on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
“Except for the usual rhetoric of fix the road, motorway, cost of living and other tangentials, which borders on politics,” he wrote.
The party executive outlined a set of developments executed by government which he believes proves that the country is on the right trajectory.
In this light, the NPP youth Organiser sees this demonstration as 'debaucherous and uncanny politics' geared towards causing chaos.
Meanwhile, Mr Mustapha condemned the actions of the police on Day 1 of the demonstration, emphasising that the right to protest is a fundamental and constitutionally protected right.
