The ongoing 13th African Games, hosted by Ghana, have been captivating audiences in cities across the country.
The official opening ceremony, held on Friday, March 8 at the University of Ghana Stadium, was a vibrant spectacle that brought together athletes and sports officials from various African countries, including Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Burundi, Nigeria, and many more.
Since the games kicked off, athletes representing their nations have delivered remarkable performances across a range of sports.
Team Ghana's men's swimmer captain, Abeku Jackson made history by ending Ghana's long-standing medal drought at the continental event, securing the country's first-ever medal on Day 2.
He clinched silver in the Men's 50m Butterfly final with an impressive time of 24.23 seconds. Jackson also bagged a bronze in the contentious rescheduled Men's 100m Butterfly final on Day 4, clocking in at 53.80 seconds.
However, Ghanaian duo, Joselle Mensah and Unilez Takyi missed out on medals in the final of the women’s 50m breaststroke. Mensah finished 5th with a time of 34.05 seconds, with Takyi coming in 7th place with 34.55 seconds.Â
