The Management of the Awudome Senior High School at Tsito in the Ho West District of the Volta Region has announced that the school aims to go digital in the near future.

To achieve this, a 6-year Scientific Strategic Plan has been designed to guide the digital transformation agenda of the school.

The Headmaster, Courage Meteku announced this during the grand durbar of the school's 60th Anniversary celebrations over the weekend.

“To improve on our academic activities, we have therefore developed a 6-year scientific strategic Plan to guide us into higher heights. We expect that in the near future, AWUSCO will become fully digital”, he said.

He added that the school has already constructed a virtual learning centre, where a tutor can teach about 3 classes during the same period.

Mr. Meteku said the school has seen progress in the performance of final-year students, in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, where 94% of graduating students in 2023 qualified for the University.

This he said was due to several academic interventions including increased contact hours.

He, however, lamented the lack of furniture; both bed and desk, a spacious and well-resourced science lab, well-trained teachers, and security among other challenges.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa lauded the excellent academic performance of the school adding that the government, relevant state institutions, and social partners have initiated action towards resolving challenges in the second cycle schools.

He listed the construction of a 3,000-sitting capacity assembly hall, an 18-unit classroom block, and provision of 2,000 classroom tables and chairs, a 66-seater bus, a double cabin pick-up, and upgrading the existing science lab into a science, technology, and mathematics lab as the government’s 60th-anniversary package for the school.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Prof Lydia Aziato who was the guest speaker, advised that culture should be embedded in the education curriculum.

She also called for special attention to be given to the provision of quality teaching staff, creating a disability-friendly campus environment, and mentoring of the students.

The best-performing students in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination were honored and awarded GH₵10,000 each.
