Cellular giants, MTN has presented a 20,000 Ghana cedis sponsorship package to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Hockey Africa Cup for Nations, Ghana 2009.
The package made up of 12,000 Ghana Cedis cash and 8,000 Ghana cedis worth of MTN products was the Communication giant’s contribution towards the successful hosting of the July 10 to July 18 championship scheduled for the renovated National hockey stadium in Accra.
Clement Asante, Senior Manager in charge of Consumer Marketing of MTN said the donation confirms his outfit’s support towards sports development in the country.
He expressed the hope that the package will play a major role in the LOC’s quest to host a successful tourney.
Abuga Pele, Chairman of the LOC commended the company for their gesture which he described as positive towards the promotion and development of hockey in the country.
Defending champions, South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria are expected to join hosts Ghana for the eight day championship.
This is the first time Ghana is hosting the championship.
