The body of a 30-year-old man only identified as Joe, has been found dead after he drowned in the River Akora at Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Central Region.
Sources say the deceased and his girlfriend went to the riverside to swim on Friday, but Joe could not come out of the water.
The girlfriend informed the community members, who began a search but that yielded no results.
According to police sources, Nananom [Traditional leaders] and residents of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, including divers, made every effort to find the deceased.
However, these efforts were unsuccessful until fetish priests performed rituals today, Monday, July 8.
Following the ritual performance, the body of the deceased was found in Gomoa Brofoyedu, a community near Gomoa Ekwamkrom.
The body of Joe has been conveyed by community members to Agona Swedru Hospital Mortuary for preservation, while the police have commenced investigations.
