Anineyear Marathon runner, Amida Salifu Ghana, yesterday undertook a run from the New Times Corporation through some principal streets of Accra to Independence Square.
The event was orgainsed by ‘Friends of Obama,’ a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Miss Salifu Ghana told the Times just before the start of the run that she was happy about the visit of Obama and his entourage to the country and the run was to further heighten the national euphoria the visit had created.
Mr. Abraham Boakye, the president, said the association was formed in November last year to support Barack Obama when he was campaigning for the US presidency.
Members of the association who were on a float were in Presidents Obama and Mills ‘T’ shirts.
Madam Vivian Abbey, an executive member of the association, said other events such as a musical concert, a mega float, a seminar, and a vigil were activities planned by the group to herald the visit of the US President.
