Radio and TV personality Genevieve Abrefa Yeboah, popularly known as Oheneni Adazoa, has addressed the criticisms she faced after revealing she has not had children despite being married for 20 years.
She explained that her decision to share this deeply personal aspect of her life was meant to encourage other women going through similar challenges to stay strong.
Oheneni stated that she has no regrets about making her situation public and is unfazed by those who may be uncomfortable with it.
In an interview on Sompa FM, she acknowledged the difficulty of her journey but expressed gratitude for God’s grace in sustaining her.
“Someone mentioned that I shouldn’t have talked about not having children after 20 years of marriage on Delay’s show, and I responded, ‘Why not?’ There are others in the same situation who need to know they are not alone. We are in this battle together, and we will overcome.”
She continued, “This situation is no joke. Sometimes, as a woman, you notice changes, but things turn out differently. This has been happening for a long time, and it takes God’s strength to endure,” she said in Twi in a video shared by Marigyata on Instagram on August 19, 2024.
During The Delay Show, Oheneni candidly shared, “I’ve been married for twenty years. I don’t have a child yet, but I’m still hoping for one. It has not been easy; it’s been a tough journey.”
She also reflected on the impact her situation had on her late mother, adding, “I want people to understand that no one wishes to enter into marriage and not have children. I’m the only daughter, and my mother passed away last year. I believe part of the reason she died was because she became worn out from worrying about the fact that I haven’t been able to have children.”
