Ghanaian football icon Abdul Karim ‘Golden Boy’ Razak received a distinguished honor at the WAFU B General Assembly in Niamey, Niger, on Friday.
The 1978 African Footballer of the Year was present as a special guest, joining a notable assembly of football stakeholders from across the sub-region.
The gathering included presidents and general secretaries from seven member associations, along with zonal leaders and renowned former African football stars.
Razak, celebrated for his remarkable career, was recognized alongside other football legends such as Moumouni Dagano from Burkina Faso, Kossi Agassa from Togo, and Moussa Maâzou from Niger.
WAFU B President Kurt Okraku led the accolades, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the sport on the continent.
Known affectionately as ‘Golden Boy,’ Razak showcased his talent with various clubs during the 1970s and 1980s, including the esteemed Asante Kotoko and the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League. His illustrious journey also took him to the UAE, Egypt, and Ivory Coast.
In a testament to his legacy, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recognized him in 2007 as one of Africa’s 30 greatest footballers of the past 50 years.
