Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has extended heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in Ghana’s 2024 general elections.
Describing the outcome as “nature’s justice,” he commended Ghanaians for defying the alleged machinations of the incumbent government to deliver a clear first-round mandate to Mahama.
In a sharply worded statement, the former Special Prosecutor highlighted what he described as the “self-centred human desires and intentions” of the outgoing administration.
He accused President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of exploiting state power to influence the electoral process.
“The determination of President Nana Akufo-Addo to use all the means of state power at his disposal to deny you any chance of a free, fair and transparent election…was self-evident in rhetoric, action, and deed even to the last hour of the vote,” Amidu asserted.

Martin Amidu credited the Ghanaian electorate with demonstrating a remarkable level of political maturity and resolve.
He praised their decision to decisively elect Mahama in the first round, describing it as a “purposeful decision” that rejected the ruling party’s alleged misuse of incumbency.
“The wise decision of the Ghanaian electorate in electing you with a massive vote…was a demonstration of their determination to disabuse the minds of the political elite and the deep state apparatus of the presumption that the ordinary Ghanaian is a zombified yokel without common sense,” Martin Amidu stated.
The former Special Prosecutor lauded Mahama’s triumph as a reflection of the people’s desire for accountability and change, positioning the victory as a referendum on nearly eight years of alleged misgovernance under the outgoing administration.
