The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Elsie Addo Awadzi is taking early retirement.

The move is set to take effect on 28th February 2025.

President John Mahama has accepted her decision and expressed appreciation for her service to the central bank and the nation.

In a statement signed by Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President acknowledged Mrs. Awadzi’s contributions, stating, “The President thanks Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi for her distinguished service to the Bank and the Republic and wishes her well in her future endeavours.”

Mrs. Awadzi, who has been in office since 2018, played a key role in Ghana’s financial sector reforms and banking regulation.

Her resignation brings an end to her tenure at the central bank.

Last week, President Mahama nominated Dr Johnson Asiamah as the next Governor of the Bank of Ghana, pending approval by the Council of State.
