Barcelona and other top European football clubs are vying to sign Dutch international and Bayer 04 Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.
The right wing-back has become highly sought after due to his exceptional performances for both club and country since joining Bayer Leverkusen.
Frimpong’s contract with Leverkusen runs until 2028, but a release clause of approximately €40 million could pave the way for his departure this summer.
His outstanding form has not gone unnoticed. During the 2023-24 Bundesliga season, Frimpong contributed nine goals in 31 league appearances, playing a key role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten title run.
This season, he has continued to impress, adding four goals and eleven assists in 40 games across all competitions. His latest contribution was a match-winning assist in a 3-1 comeback victory over VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, after scoring the opening goal.
Reports across Europe suggest that Barcelona and Real Madrid are eager to secure the 24-year-old’s services to bolster their squads for next season.
English powerhouses Manchester United and Liverpool have also expressed interest in Frimpong, who is widely regarded as one of the best right wing-backs in the game.
