Ghana improved from the 13th to the 12th position with the lowest fuel price in Africa.
According to GlobalPetrolPrices.com, Ghana’s average petrol price of $1.029 per litre in April 2025 ranks it 48th globally.
Libya retained the number one position in Africa with the lowest fuel price of $0.027 per litre on the African continent. It was also ranked first globally.
Angola and Egypt came 2nd and 3rd respectively with fuel prices of $0.328 and $0.331 per litre.
From 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th were Algeria ($0.343), Nigeria ($0.560), Sudan (0.700), Tunisa ($0.831), Ethiopia ($0.851) and Liberia ($0.871) respectively.
Prices of petroleum products rose marginally at the pumps from the beginning of April 2025.
According to a report from the National Petroleum Authority, petrol prices rose by 2%, bringing the price per liter to GH¢15.20, while diesel increased by 1.1% to GH¢15.35 per liter.
However, there was a slight relief for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which dropped marginally by 0.3%, with a kilogramme selling at GH¢17.30.
Crude oil has been selling low at about $65 per barrel so far in 2025.
