Executive Chairman of AB & David Law, David Ofosu-Dorte, has challenged the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana’s leading power producer, to ignite the country's industrial future.
He urged it to take bold strides toward transforming the economy through energy.

Speaking during a panel discussion at the Volta River Authority’s (VRA) 64th anniversary celebration on April 25, 2025, Ofosu-Dorte called on the organisation to lead a visionary charge: developing a 20-gigawatt base load energy plan to support Ghana’s long-term industrialisation goals.
“It may take well over a decade to achieve,” he acknowledged, “but someone has to start dreaming and planning it.”
Mr Ofosu-Dorte framed his call as a challenge not just to the VRA but to all institutions that see themselves as agents of national progress.

“That is how organisations can help policymakers implement transformation of an economy,” he asserted.
He encouraged the VRA to align the ambitious power roadmap with the government’s proposed Big Push agenda, an initiative aimed at accelerating large-scale infrastructure and industrial development.

His remarks signal a growing demand for Ghana to shift from incremental policy steps to bold, long-term action, particularly in the power sector, which remains a critical pillar in unlocking economic growth, job creation, and manufacturing competitiveness.
