PassionAir has issued an official statement confirming an incident involving moderate turbulence on Flight OP 149, which was en route from Kumasi to Accra on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
The airline acknowledged reports of passenger discomfort during the flight and extended an apology to all those affected, attributing the disturbance to seasonal weather conditions.
“The current rainy season brings significant and sometimes unpredictable weather variations,” the statement read.
“These include heavy rainfall, storms, strong high-altitude winds, crosswinds, and temperature fluctuations, all of which contribute to unstable atmospheric conditions.”
According to PassionAir, such turbulence may be encountered on routes serving Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Sunyani, and Wa, especially during this time of year.
However, the airline reassured the public that it is actively monitoring weather conditions in collaboration with meteorological and aviation authorities.
“While we expect mostly slight to moderate weather disruptions, rare instances of severe conditions may occur due to these natural weather changes,” the release stated.
PassionAir emphasised that the safety and comfort of its passengers and crew remain paramount and that all operations continue to meet strict regulatory safety standards.
