In a turn of events that reads like a blockbuster movie, a young Ghanaian small-scale miner, popularly known as a Galamseyer, has become the country’s newest millionaire thanks to a GH¢6 bet on betPawa’s Aviator platform.
Prince Adusei, a former miner based in Kumasi, staked just GH¢6.50 on Aviator and walked away with GH¢2 million, marking one of the most extraordinary gaming wins in Ghana’s recent history.
Prior to the win, Prince earned a daily wage of GH¢150 from illegal small-scale mining operations.
“I had placed the bet, and then my network went off,” Prince recounted. “When it came back, I couldn’t believe what I saw. I thought it was a scam, so I switched off my phone.”
To test if the win was real, Prince first withdrew GH¢5,000 and it was credited. He tried again, withdrawing another GH¢5,000, and the money hit his mobile wallet again. That’s when the reality of his windfall began to sink in. Since then, he hasn’t returned to the mining site and he says he doesn’t plan to.
Prince’s story took center stage at a press event held at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, as betPawa celebrated its biggest Aviator winners from Ghana, Cameroon, and Zambia.
This historic event saw multiple winners being honoured from across the continent. The highlight was a record-breaking group win of GHS 11.44 million (USD 1.1 million) in a single Aviator round, the largest ever on the African continent.
In Zambia, Sydny, a driver, placed a modest 7 kwacha bet and won over 3 million kwacha. In Cameroon, a player named Clovis turned two micro-bets into 150 million FCFA (USD 270,000), with others also walking away with major payouts using minimal stakes.
From Ghana’s mining pits to millionaire status, Prince’s story has captured the imagination of many. His is not just a win but a life transformed. betPawa ensured all big winners were treated like royalty, with VIP experiences including chauffeured rides, luxury stays, custom gifts, and even a private jet experience over Ghana.
Beyond the celebrations, betPawa remains committed to ensuring big wins lead to lasting impact. In partnership with the Gaming Commission of Ghana, the brand is rolling out a financial literacy and empowerment programme to support winners in making smart financial decisions.
“This is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,” said Borah Ndanyungu, Head of Local Marketing and CSR at betPawa. “We’ve built a platform with the lowest minimum stakes and the highest max wins because we believe life-changing moments should be accessible to all.”
