Shatta Wale’s ShattaFest has gone down as one of the biggest outdoor concerts in Ghana’s recent history, as former manager Sammy Flex has revealed that the turnout far exceeded expectations.
According to him, the event team initially projected a crowd of 100,000 when they wrote to the police, ambulance, and fire service for clearance.
However, the reality on the ground was a staggering surprise. Interesting, over 300,000 fans trooped to the Independence Square and beyond.
“We didn’t anticipate the huge numbers at all. They filled the entire square, the stands and even spilled into the streets. The drone shots captured people stretching from the stadium area all the way to Osu and Tema Station. The whole place was packed.”
Sammy Flex described the atmosphere as electric, with the only challenge being occasional heat flashes and exhaustion among the crowd.
“When the heat got intense, I asked the Fire Service to step in to sprinkle water on the fans. We had ambulances and five other emergency cars on standby to handle any emergencies,” he added.
Sammy Flex said despite the overwhelming turnout, the event ran smoothly, crediting the team’s swift organization and dedication.
“We planned everything in just 13 days; the decision, preparation, everything. And to see it turn out this successful shows that God truly used Shatta to bless the whole nation,” he said.
He added that ShattaFest was not just a concert but a celebration of love between Shatta Wale and his fans.
The entire team, including the host Shatta Wale, is fulfilled as congratulatory messages haven’t stopped coming.
