President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Abidjan from Doha, Qatar, to attend the swearing-in of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara as he begins another term in office.
A statement issued by Jubilee House on Monday, December 8, said President Mahama is expected to return to Ghana after the ceremony later this morning.
President Alassane Ouattara secured re-election in Côte d’Ivoire’s recent presidential poll, according to provisional results released on Monday.
The country’s Independent Electoral Commission announced that the 83-year-old incumbent won a fourth term with 89.77 per cent of the votes cast.

Former Commerce Minister Jean-Louis Billon, who had already congratulated President Ouattara on Sunday, received 3.09 per cent of the vote.
Former First Lady Simone Gbagbo followed with 2.42 per cent, according to results read on state television by the Electoral Commission’s president, Ibrahime Coulibaly-Kuibiert.
