An Israeli official has denied claims that Israel apologised to Ghana over the deportation of three Ghanaian nationals, insisting that the issue was a “consular problem” that should be handled through diplomatic channels.
The official, who revealed to Myjoyonline, said Israel had raised the matter with Ghana “more than once” and stressed that such issues are usually resolved quietly between “two friendly and mature states.”
This contradicts an earlier statement by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who told the Joy FM Super Morning Show on Thursday, December 11, that Israeli authorities had apologised and that both sides were working to de-escalate the situation.

Ablakwa maintained that Ghana had been firm in demanding fair treatment for its nationals abroad.
“We made it clear that Ghana will respond decisively to any unjustified treatment of our citizens,” he said.
The diplomatic row stems from the deportation of three Ghanaians from Israel under what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as “unacceptable circumstances.”
According to a statement issued by the Ministry on December 10, 2025, two of the individuals were in Israel to attend a cybersecurity conference, while the third was on pilgrimage.
The Ministry said Ghana viewed the removals as unjustified, prompting a reciprocal action — the deportation of three Israeli nationals from Ghana.
However, both sides have indicated that they prefer the issue to be addressed through established diplomatic processes.
