The IGP Special Operations Team has swooped in on suspected peddlers, arresting seven individuals and confiscating substantial quantities of illicit substances in Tamale in the Northern Region.
The operation, part of a broader effort to curb crime during the festive season, saw police join forces with the Gulkpegu Chief Task Force to target suspects and disrupt their networks.

Among those arrested is Gladys Lariba, a Taha resident, allegedly involved in peddling Indian hemp-laced toffees and dried leaves.
Others arrested include Joseph Christian, Musah Stephen, and Fatau Issahaku, who were found with Tramadol capsules and suspected Indian hemp.

Amina Isahaku and her husband, Muhammed Sumaila, were also apprehended with boxes of Tramadol capsules, following a tip-off from the Gulkpegu Chief Task Force.
However, two suspects, Hidir and Hikima Yahaya, remain at large, with police intensifying efforts to track them down and dismantle the wider distribution network.

“The operation showcases our team’s commitment, professionalism, and operational effectiveness,” said ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil, leader of the operation.
“We are working tirelessly to keep Tamale safe and secure.”
He added that the crackdown highlights the value of community collaboration and inter-agency cooperation in the fight against crime.
