Two students have died following a motor accident in the Upper West Region, in a tragedy that has thrown the Charia community into deep mourning.
The deceased have been identified as Taufii Ibrahim, a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate, and Abdul Khalid, a Junior High School (JHS) Two student. Both attended Charia Roman Catholic Junior High School.
The accident occurred while the two were reportedly riding on a motorcycle within Wa township. The circumstances suggest they were engaged in routine movement in town at the time of the crash, rather than travelling to any examination centre.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to a nearby health facility following the incident. Taufii was pronounced dead on arrival, while Abdul Khalid succumbed to his injuries on Monday afternoon.
The loss of the two students has cast a pall over the school and surrounding community, with residents expressing grief over the sudden and devastating incident.
