Africa World Airlines (AWA) has held a stakeholder engagement in Accra as part of efforts to strengthen its operations and position the Ghanaian carrier as a leading airline on the African continent.

The engagement brought together partners and key stakeholders to discuss the airline’s vision, values and strategic agenda, with a particular focus on improving customer experience and expanding its reach across Africa.

AWA says its long-term ambition is to become Africa’s leading airline by connecting the continent to the rest of the world in an efficient, reliable and customer-focused manner.

Speaking at the event, Africa World Airlines Head of Commercial, Madam Portia Akowuah, said the airline was committed to creating an environment in which its partners and customers could continue to benefit from its operations.

She said the company was doing everything possible to keep its stakeholders in business while ensuring that customer concerns were addressed promptly.

“The company is doing everything possible to keep everyone in business while always on top of addressing the concerns of their customers,” Madam Akowah said.

The stakeholder engagement also provided AWA with an opportunity to showcase some of its key products and services as it seeks to consolidate its position in Ghana and expand its presence across the continent.

Among the products highlighted were scheduled flight services, charter flight services and the airline's 'Celebration in the Air' offering. The company also offers group bookings and its Medaase Loyalty programme.

The Medaase Loyalty programme operates across four membership tiers — Platinum, Gold, Emerald and Ruby — providing customers with different benefits based on their level of engagement with the airline.

AWA currently operates a fleet of 10 aircraft as it continues to pursue its expansion plans.

As part of those plans, the airline is preparing to launch a new route connecting Accra with Côte d'Ivoire, marking another step in its ambition to improve regional connectivity and strengthen links between Ghana and other African markets.

The new route is expected to complement AWA's existing regional operations and provide passengers with additional travel options within West Africa.

The airline also used the engagement to gather direct feedback from stakeholders and invited guests through a poll on ways it could improve its services.

The initiative formed part of the company's broader effort to understand the expectations of its customers and partners and identify areas where improvements could be made.

Meanwhile, Africa World Airlines is preparing to introduce its E190 aircraft, which will feature a Premium Economy cabin.

The introduction of the aircraft is expected to enhance the airline's product offering and provide passengers with an upgraded travel experience.

With its fleet expansion, new route plans, customer loyalty programme and upgraded onboard product, AWA is positioning itself for the next phase of its growth as it seeks to establish itself as one of Africa's leading aviation brands.

The company says its continued engagement with partners and stakeholders will remain an important part of its strategy as it works towards its vision of connecting Africa more efficiently with itself and the rest of the world.
