FIFA President Gianni Infantino has commended Ghana for its continued efforts to advance football development in the country following a meeting with President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who doubles as the 2nd Vice-President of CAF at the Home of FIFA in Zürich.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, focused on football development and opportunities for further collaboration between FIFA and the GFA as Ghana continues to strengthen the foundations of the football at various levels.
In a message posted on his official Instagram account after the meeting, President Infantino said the discussions centred on “football development talks” and exploring opportunities to build an even stronger foundation for football in Ghana.

The FIFA President also highlighted the importance of the GFA’s focus on grassroots and infrastructure development, noting that the work being undertaken by the Association has contributed to positive strides for Ghanaian football.
President Infantino cited Ghana’s recent qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which begins this Saturday, as well as the country’s qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup next month, as evidence of the progress being made.
“President Okraku and his team understand the importance of grassroots and infrastructure development, and their work has helped Ghana take positive strides,” President Infantino stated.
He further expressed his appreciation to the Ghana Football Association for its continued support and dedication to the development of the game, stressing the role of football as a source of hope and opportunity for young people pursuing their dreams.

“Following our productive meeting, I thanked everyone at the Ghana Football Association for their continued support and dedication to ensuring football remains a beacon of hope for everyone with a football dream in Ghana,” he added.
The engagement between the FIFA President and President Simeon-Okraku reinforces the growing collaboration between FIFA and Ghana as the Association pursues initiatives aimed at strengthening football development, expanding opportunities at the grassroots level and improving infrastructure across the country.
