The family of a chief murdered in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region is asking the police to speed up investigations into the matter.
The chief of Kwamafukrom, Buah-Kwofie and an elder of the village Kwamena Francis were lynched in a mob action on August 4, 2006.
It is believed a chieftaincy and land dispute that has sharply divided the villages of Akwadaa and Kwamafukrom may have led to the lynching.
A nephew of the late chief, Charles Duku told Joy News three survivors of the mob attack have named seven suspects but the district police at Kwesimintsim were yet to arrest any of the suspects.
He said since the murder, the rival faction has chased out residents of the dead chief’s village, displacing several families.
The Criminal Investigations Department at the Police Headquarters has taken up the investigations but in the meantime, Mr Duku wants some intervention to return displaced people of the village.
