Six people including a student resident at Nantwikumye, a suburb of Bibiani have been remanded in police custody by the Bibiani circuit Court for possessing two fertilizer bags containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
They are Eric Kwaku, 26, farmer, Kwabena Aprega, 20, apprentice electrician, Francis Oppong, 27, second-hand cloth dealer, Koso Kaya, 33, farmer, Yaw Tawiah, 45, farmer and Stephen Quaicoo, a student of Sefwi-Wiawso Secondary School.
Their pleas were not taken and would re-appear on May 2.
Police Inspector Lucky Goglomi told the court that a joint police and military operation at Bibiani on April 13 arrested the suspects at their hideout.
Two fertilizer bags full of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a knife, a hammer and two shot guns were with them.
