At Hohoe, two female candidates alleged to be pregnant were absent at separate centres when the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced on Monday in three centres in the township.
Dumevi Hilda and Akpi Millicent of the Saint Francis Demonstration School and AME Zion Basic School, respectively, were absent when the GNA went round to monitor the examination.
At the Saint Francis College Centre, Andrew Kofi Abini, the examination supervisor said Dumevi was the only absentee with 508 candidates participating.
Teddy Ofori, the Supervisor at the Hohoe E P Secondary School centre said 374 candidates reported for the examination with the exception of Akpi, which sources alleged was pregnant.
Ms. Cecilia Dusi, the Supervisor at the Saint Teresa's College centre said all 269 candidates reported for the examination.
Ms. Beauty Dede Kumah, Hohoe District Director of Education said 2,963 candidates comprising 1,560 boys and 1,403 girls including 15 candidates from the Hohoe School for the Deaf at 12 designated centres were expected to write the examination.
