The Chairman of the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA), Enoch Amartey, has denied claims by Golden Rackets number one seed Salifu Mohammed that the association has failed to establish constant communication with the player, but only calls him up when they need his services for a tournament.
Amartey said the GTA had been making contact with the player via electronic mail but confirmed to Joy Sports that team motivation was poor, a situation he attributes to lack of funding.
He however stated his association is working hard to change the situation ahead of the Euro/African Group III Davis Cup match in April next year.
Salifu Mohammed hinted that he missed the recent African Tennis Championships in Egypt due to lack of motivation from the GTA and he will absent himself from the Davis Cup team again if the situation doesn’t change.
