The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, Mr Magnus Opare Asamoah, has advised communities in his constituency to initiate self-help projects so that the government would assist them. He said: “You have to start something on your own before you call on the central government for assistance.” Mr Opare Asamoah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Road Transport, made the suggestion when he toured more than 20 communities in his constituency to acquaint himself with development projects being undertaken by the people. Some of the communities were Kofisah, Sumkrom, Ahwerease Darmang, Noka, Anoff, Kwasitenteng, Kwaafokrom, Oberedumah, Teshie, Akramang and Panpansokrom. The Deputy Minister said the government was ever ready to help every community in the country if they started to do something to improving their lives. Mr Opare Asamoah advised the chiefs and the people to come together to plan their developmental needs. He said the government had started a number of developmental projects to improve the lives of the citizenry and therefore called on the people to vote the New Patriotic Party into power again come the year 2008 to enable it to complete them.
