Thirty three suspects in the Atronie murder case including the queen mother, Nana Wirekoaa Afriyie and her husband, were on Thursday remanded into prison custody again when they made a second appearance before a magistrate court in Sunyani.
The suspects allegedly lynched Mr. Anthony Yeboah Boateng, administrator of the Goaso Government Hospital on Easter Sunday at Atronie, near Sunyani, as he, his wife and a Roman Catholic sister conveyed the corpse of a relative from Sunyani to Goaso.
Their pleas on the charges of murder and causing damage were not taken and they would remain in custody till May 14 this year.
Three of the suspects Emmanuel Kwarteng, Isaac Amo and Joseph Kwasi Donkor were freed by the court after the prosecutor had said the police, after investigations, had found them innocent.
The court, presided by Mr. Albert Zoogah, ordered the police to send Douglas Afriyie, one of the suspects to a psychiatric hospital for examination.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Martin Dephearmaphor, prosecutor, said the suspects were residents of the town but bolted after the incident.
He said the deceased, who was also a Presiding Member of the Asunafo North District Assembly also had his Audi car damaged by the irate youth on suspicion of being a ritual murderer.
