Nana Darkwa, the 27-year-old man who was remanded into prison custody Thursday after he accused ex-President J.J. Rawlings of burning his own house has been admitted to bail.
His lawyer, Kwame Akuffo, told Joy News that a high court admitted him to bail Friday morning, paving the way for his release "within the next hour or two".
Nana Darkwa was arrested on the premises of Accra-based radio station, Top Radio, after maintaining that he knew former President Rawlings to have burnt his own house, which was reduced to ashes in the early hours of Sunday.
He was taken to a circuit court, which refused a bail application and rather decided that he would be 'better protected' with a two-week stay in prison custody at the Nsawam Prison.
But Kwame Akuffo told Joy News' Evans Mensah, the prosecution did not oppose the bail application, which was only a repetition of what was refused by the circuit court, presided by B.K. Wilson.
Processes to secure Darkwa's release are already underway.
