The opposition New Patriotic Party will begin the printing of ballot papers for its August 7 primaries on Friday with representatives of the five aspirants expected to witness the exercise.
Spokesperson for the party’s election committee O. B. Amoah tells Joy News the printing should hopefully be completed by 2nd August for distribution to begin.
“We have arranged with the EC to print the ballot papers and be in charge of the whole elections.
“The arrangement was that by 28 July they should start printing the ballot papers. So they met the agents of all the aspirants and they discussed the modalities and everything.
“So all thing being equal they should start printing today,” he assured.
The aspirants with the exception of Kwame Koduah yesterday met with national executives, the party’s election committee and the National Council of Elders ahead of next Saturday’s primaries.
Although August 2nd has been given as the deadline for all grievances to be addressed, officials say any fundamental issue which crops up will be promptly attended to.
Professor Fred Sai, a member of the National Council of Elders told Joy News everything is moving on smoothly.
“The problems have all been resolved. Of course the main purpose of this meeting was to find what progress has been made in implementation and whether there is anything we should anticipate.
The whole thing went on beautifully; deadlines are being met. By the time we finished there was absolutely nothing to be resolved,” he said.
