The National Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to congratulate the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on a successful election, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in particular for emerging as the Presidential Candidate to lead the Party in the 2012 elections.
We also congratulate the electorate of the party for electing Nana Akufo-Addo.
By voting for Nana Addo, the NDC believes the electorates have shown the level of trust and hope the Party reposes in him to join other leaders to be elected by other parties to contest the NDC in 2012.
We had hoped, and indeed prayed a free and fair election, devoid of any form of violence. We thank God that the event passed without incident.
The NDC’s concern for an event-free poll was warranted by reports of physical and verbal attacks, amidst suspicion of fraud by some members of the party prior to the election.
To all who contested the election but did not register personal victory, the NDC applauds your spirit of competition and magnanimity that saw you share a common platform with the eventual winner.
Ayekoo! Once again, accept our best wishes as your epoch-making election adds impetus to Ghana’s growing image as a bastion of democracy.
Signed
James Asante
Director of Communications, NDC
