Kotoko have announced the signing of Emmanuel Gyamfi.
The player, affectionately called Beckham because of his penchant for delivering accurate long balls, has committed to a three-year deal with the club.
Gyamfi was in the company of his agent and Kotoko officials at the club secretariat in Kumasi on Monday.
The 22-year old declined an offer from his former side, Wa All Stars, to extend him deal beyond the end of last season. He was very close to playing in the South African top flight earlier this year but it fell through on deadline day of the transfer window.
Gyamfi could not begin last season with Wa All Stars due to a delay in the arrival of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) after completing a loan spell with FC Shirak in Armenia.
But his stats for the Upper West team were quite stellar: 10 assists, and 11 man-of-the match awards all in 21 league games. Even then he missed two matches due to injury.
Kotoko will play his former team on Wednesday, but he cannot make the trip as the team left Kumasi before he completed the deal. However, he has been training with the first team for the past week and is expected to be a regular before the end of the season.
