Two of Ghana’s biggest dancehall acts, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, have been nominated for the 2016 edition of the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
The two, known for the arch rivalry in the Ghanaian music space, have been nominated in separate categories in this year’s awards scheduled to take place at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Florida, USA on Sunday, October 2.
2015 BET Awards Best International Act: Africa winner, Stonebwoy will compete with Skip Marley, Alborosie, Major Mujah and Franko for the ‘Most Promising Entertainer’ award.
Shatta Wale on the other hand has been nominated for the ‘Best African Song/Entertainer’ category for his hit song, ‘Chop Kiss’.
Other nominees in the ‘Best African Song/Entertainer’ category are ‘selfie’ by Koffi Olomide (Congo), ‘Ololufa’ by Flavour ft Chidinma (Nigeria), ‘Final’ by Wizkid (Nigeria) and ‘Sape Comme Jamais’ by Maitre Gims (Congo).
The IRAWMA, established in 1982, acknowledges and honours the accomplishments and contributions of reggae and world music artistes, songwriters, performers and promoters.
