The Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr. Gideon Boako, has hit the ground for the construction of a multipurpose maternity ward at the Duayaw-Nkwanta Health Center, marking a major step toward modernizing healthcare infrastructure within the Ahafo Region.
Dr. Boako, speaking at the event on Friday, April 3, reiterated his commitment to building a holistic healthcare system that ensures dignity and a high quality of life for his constituents.
He noted that upon his election, he found much of the center's infrastructure and equipment to be obsolete.

This new facility, he explained, is his contribution toward transforming the center into a modern medical hub that will significantly improve the experience of childbirth for mothers and their families.
The MP also commended the health workers at the center for their resilience. Despite the aged infrastructure, the facility was recently named the best health center in the Ahafo Region during the 2025 annual health performance review.
Dr. Boako’s intervention is intended to complement their hard work with the resources they need to excel.

The new ward is designed with modern clinical standards in mind. It will include dedicated changing and shower rooms for expectant mothers, a sterilization room for surgical instruments, and a sluice room for clinical waste management.
To ensure smooth operations, the facility will also feature a duty station and records area for midwives to manage patient charts and coordinate referrals, as well as a comfortable waiting area for families.
Yaw Owusu in charge of the Duayaw-Nkwanta Health Center, expressed gratitude to Dr. Boako for the timely intervention.

He noted that the new facility would alleviate the pressure on their existing, overstretched resources and motivated the staff to continue providing excellent service.
This project adds to a growing list of health-focused initiatives led by Dr. Boako in Tano North.
Since taking office, he has sponsored 40 constituents to study medicine at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and launched a free eye screening and surgery initiative that has already provided 95 cataract surgeries.
From funding emergency treatments for accident victims to building new wards, the MP continues to prioritize the health and well-being of the Tano North people.
